Treasures of Our Heritage: The Collections at Oseredok
Exhibition: The Collections at Oseredok («Колекції Осередку»)
Opening Date: October 2, 2026
As part of Oseredok’s major Fall Exhibition Season launching on October 2, we proudly present The Collections at Oseredok. For over 80 years, Oseredok has served as a guardian of memory, safeguarding the artistic and cultural legacy of Ukrainians in Canada and throughout the diaspora. Today, our holdings comprise over 50,000 works of art, artifacts, rare publications, and extensive archival records—forming one of the most significant and vibrant repositories of Ukrainian culture in North America.
Drawn from these extensive holdings, this landmark exhibition brings together paintings, sculpture, ceramics, carved woodwork, icons, furniture, and textiles, alongside highlights from Oseredok’s extraordinary collection of nearly 6,000 decorated pysanky. Spanning more than a century, the works on view reveal a rich, evolving visual culture shaped by tradition, migration, memory, and artistic innovation.
While folk and decorative arts demonstrate how beauty and cultural knowledge were embedded in everyday life, the fine art collection expands the narrative through landscapes, portraits, religious imagery, and avant-garde works by Ukrainian, Ukrainian Canadian, and Ukrainian American artists. Many of these objects entered Oseredok through the generosity of families and individuals dedicated to sustaining identity through material culture.
Presented together, these works demonstrate the resilience, diversity, and continuing creativity of Ukrainian culture — connecting homeland and diaspora, tradition and experimentation, remembrance and renewal.
