Join us on Friday, May 17th, at 6:30 PM in celebrating World Vyshyvanka Day 2024 with an exclusive presentation tour featuring the remarkable book “Netlinni (Imperishable),” co-authored by Lesya Voroniuk and Volodymyr Shchybria!

Imperishable: Ukrainian State Symbols in Folk Embroidery and Weaving” is more than just a book—it’s a groundbreaking ethnographic photo album revealing never-before-seen embroidered and woven artifacts adorned with Ukrainian state symbols and motifs. Uncover over 200 exceptional pieces showcased in the pages, meticulously collected from the early and mid-20th centuries. Each item tells a story of aesthetic allure and profound historical significance, embodying cultural and political resistance against past Soviet totalitarian regimes.

Led by Lesya Voronyuk, the visionary behind World Vyshyvanka Day, this presentation promises an enriching experience. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during the launch.

But that’s not all! Book Launch attendees in Winnipeg will be treated to a mesmerizing display of authentic ancient Ukrainian costumes, some over 100-120 years old! Yevgenia Tatarenko will unveil her private collection, “Sviato,” featuring unique exhibits from various regions of Ukraine, including those currently under Russian occupation.

Prepare to dazzle in your finest vyshyvanka attire and become part of a vibrant group photo, adding your splash of colour to mark this special occasion!

The event is proudly organized by Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre and the Ukrainian Cultural Society, with the generous support of Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Manitoba and Borsch Ukrainian Cultural Club.
