Oseredok is holding a Special General Meeting of Members on May 26th, from 6pm-7pm<\/strong> at Oseredok (184 Alexander Avenue). The two agenda items for this SGM will be:
 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. The ratification of constitutional amendments that have been developed by the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors.
     <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. To approve the following Board appointed director replacements under Section 5.6 of the Constitution:
     
                                                      i.    Mrs. Roberta Radons, P.Eng \u2013 to fill the unexpired term of Christina Semaniuk (expires 2028)
                                                     ii.    Prof. Myroslav Shkandrij \u2013 to fill the unexpired term of Olesia Sloboda (expires 2028)
     
    While both agenda items could be addressed at the upcoming Annual General Meeting in June, the Board feels these matters are best addressed in advance of the AGM to allow for as more focused (and shorter) AGM, and the opportunity (if necessary) for any items arising from these agenda items to be addressed again at the AGM.
     
    The Governance Committee has prepared materials, available on Oseredok\u2019s website, containing: (1) the current constitution last dated June 2023, (2) the proposed revised constitution, (3) a \u201credline\u201d comparison of the 2023 constitution and the proposed changes, (4) an explanation of the proposed changes. Brief candidate descriptions for Roberta and Myroslav are also available for advance review.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Mrs. Roberta Radons<\/strong>

    Mrs. Radons is a Professional Engineer with over 20 years of experience in the energy and utilities sector, specializing in enterprise portfolio management, governance systems, and organizational alignment. In senior roles at Manitoba Hydro, Mrs. Radons has provided oversight for large\u00a0complex capital portfolios and enterprise-wide improvements while leading multidisciplinary teams. A key achievement includes establishing the (Manitoba Hydro’s) first Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), enhancing governance and decision-making.\u2028\u2028 Mrs. Radons is recognized for advancing diversity and inclusion within engineering and has held leadership roles in industry initiatives. Her governance experience includes professional association leadership and advisory contributions.\u2028
    Roberta was raised in the Selkirk-Interlake area\u00a0and attended the Ukrainian bilingual program, which she credits in contributing to her awareness and appreciation of the Ukrainian language and culture. Roberta is eager to share her leadership skills supporting Oseredok and the Ukrainian community.

    Prof. Myroslav Shkandrij\u2028<\/strong>

    Prof. Shkandrij is a returning Oseredok Board member, a highly respected Academic, and member of the Ukrainian community locally, within Canada and abroad. He is Professor Emeritus of the University of Manitoba and a former head of the Department of German and Slavic Studies. He researches aspects of modern Ukrainian and Russian cultural history, including the avant-garde, Soviet literary politics, nationalism, imperialism and contemporary debates around decolonization. His articles have appeared in Canadian Slavonic Papers, Nationalities Papers, Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, Journal of Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society, Kyiv-Mohyla Humanities Journal and other periodicals. He is the author, editor or translator of a number of books and curator of several art exhibitions.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
